Jupiter & Saturn
Since I can remember I’ve been nuts about our universe. I’ve been studying it for fun my entire life. Last night we brought out our Celestron to check out Jupiter & Saturn. Jupiter will remain close until December. 2nd image I had to lighten, never use a flash when using a telescope or look at a bright phone. 2nd pic is my daughter Kam.
We were able to see Jupiter’s moons, and stripes, and Saturn’s rings and pastel color was brilliant. I messed around and spied the sky randomly while my husband picked up youngest up from a football game. New Angel based on a Cemetery Sculpture in Italy
Started a 48”x36” angel based on a cemetery angel located in Italy. When I begin a figurative painting I always start with the eyes. It’s also another depiction of the painting that is mentioned in my book JUMPER.
Over the past year I’ve been studying sculpture to enhance my knowledge in painting and drawing. Cemetery sculptures have hypnotized me. To my knowledge America doesn’t have an extensive amount of cemetery sculpture art, however, I have read that New Orleans does. Halloween Is Near
Even though we’re in the middle of a wretched heat wave, Halloween is next month! I adore fall. Each season I sketch figures from my favorite Halloween inspired movies like Corpse Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and the list goes on.
I am growing pumpkins in my front yard, much to the demise of my husband, but he deals with it the best he can. I have two large breed pumpkins growing and 3-4 midsize.
Also, my art and name will be on a LA billboard sometime in the fall, and hopefully that will gain me some publicity. Here’s a Jack Skellington I’m working on. 🎃
Creating star clusters with paint
Creating star clusters, takes a different approach than sketching. I splatter thinned out titanium white paint (soft body and add in some larger dots with thick body. Let dry, then using 2/3 gel medium mix a dab of Phalo blue until it’s HIGHLY transparant. You want to see the star. Then, take a Uber fine tip brush, I use the fine line ones for face detail, and circle it around each star, use your finger to drag it outward.
