Part of my process is kinda funny. This painting will be a relatively realistic underwater serene scene. The pale will be sand. The other part will have reflection lines. BUT, something in my brain HAS to add in abstract elements to it then I build around that adding in elements of realism. I do that with my sketches too. I’ve tried to go straight in and start with pure realism. I end up pissed off At myself and my work.
