My 5ft mixed media “Access Point”, and 40x30 MM “Moon Dust” were dropped off today for the Ink & Clay:Art Meets Science/Kellog Gallery Cal Poly Pomona’s juried group exhibition. When I cams across this art call I knew that these two would be a perfect fit. Astronomy meets art. Mt.Shasta has 2 paintings underneath, yielding an interesting texture. The moon has 1 painting underneath. I’ve been up-cycling my old work in attempt to do my part. I havent bought a new canvas in a while. Geeze, it’s been hard. To create dimension in space/stars, I use acrylic ink in various colors and so many layers, I lose count. These are gloss to bring out the dimension of space. I tested out a satin varnish to cut glare, but in the end gloss had to happen in order to portray the depth. This exhibition opens end of August and ends in November. I’ve added the info. Finished up varnish of two paintings for art drop at Cal Poly Pomona this weekend. I hae two exhibitions in Pomona over the Summer. I’ve been focusing on my astronomy work, I thought I would take a few days off and work on this figurative, body positive one. You can see from the shots, that I darkened hwr back. Tightening up the Pons-Brook comet. Wdded in green, it need to dry before i paint in the aurora. I added in more jagged rock to the mountain, and more stars wnf radiation aurora on the others. 4 in one day. I spent hours adding layers to the (Mt. Shasta) mountain’s texture. I also added a tgird layer to the stars and Milky Way’s arm. I am aware our galaxy’s arm should be angled upward, but i took creative liberty and placed it horizontally. I worked a little on my screenplay adaption, and did some research as well.
