Starting new 48x48 abstract
Large 48x48 abstract pour. After the first layer dries-and I get more pouring medium-I’ll add two more transparent pours on the edges. I’m going to keep it simple. I used the pallet knife to shift the paint around, AND I found rubbing alcohol (it was sold out for awhile)-I use it in a spray bottle to move the paint around. I’m done. Finally! This 48x24 commissioned depiction of The Last Supper took me a long time. I added in flesh tones as well as a tiny bit of red in the cup next to the bread that is broken. I battled myself with this one, riddled with constant self doubt as well as writing my book, in which I wrote a hundred pages since Sunday. Finishing my novel
Rounding the final bend in my book, and something beautiful happened-I fell in love with the story. I can’t stop writing. I’m an artist, so this feeling is new to me. Usually I have my nose in a book-can’t put it down. Now...I’m writing the story, and I can’t put it down. My heart beats rapidly as the story unfolds. I usually get this feeling upon the final push of a painting. Bad glare but ya know I’m still posting my work on the commissioned Last Supper. This one has been hard for me. I’ve been balancing virtual learning for my senior, sophomore, 7th grader; writing my book, and attempting to fulfill a backlog of abstract pour paintings orders. I am overwhelmed. Luckily my junior in college doesn’t need my help. Cheers to the others out there battling with our new normal. It will change. Going over ancient world history with my daughter there’s always a pattern of disorder followed by a period of change, and then peace. Disorder is all around us, but please choose peace.

Retitling my Book
Four chapters in, and I’ve decided to retitle my fictional piece. I’m quite sure this process will occur a few times-as I do this with my paintings as well. It’s my process until I settle on what must be. BUT-since I’m a visual artist and a writer, I’m getting a jump on what I want on my book cover. It will be one of my originals. My family and I went camping (social distancing at its greenest!) for over a week in the Eastern Sierras. Out of cell range, creeks, mountain lakes, laughs, and countless shooting stars (and waaaaay too many satellites orbiting). It’s what we needed to recharge. We went with my sis in law (in pic) and her husband and son whom have been part of our quarantine.
