Our oldest TAra is a sailor. Dean and I had the best day in Chicago with our sailor. She had tons of food, coffee-all the things she couldn’t have did ten weeks. Now off to train for Air Rescue for the next year. It was incredibly hard watching her walk away from us tonight. Navy Pier with Mom and Dad. I was 24 when I had Tara, Dean was 23. We have 4 girls now Tara 21, Reese 18, Kameryn 16 (almost 17), and Drew 14. The boot camp journey was more difficult on our end then I was expecting. I didn’t expect the emotions that we experienced but Dean and I did it together, and have grown even more close - if that were possible.

Art therapy
I threw an art tantrum today. It was desperately needed. I wear a mask because of the fumes-I know I should wear one with more protection. My soul is not reacting well to the literary agent query process, and I’m aware that most manuscripts have received rejection after rejection. I’ve already received plenty of those in the art world, so I’m going to step back for a bit. I threw some paint today-it felt good. We just dropped our oldest (she turns 21 in Basic😫) off to fly out to Chicago cor Naval Basic training, and then Air Rescue school after that. I’ve been so focused on editing my novel, as well as starting another suspense book - that I’ve neglected to nourish my art. Awe, it is so vital to my well being.
I worked on these two figurative paintings the past two days. I rose with the sun (a small house and four older daughters creates a difficult creative environment), and dove right in.
My oldest, who is about to turn 21 leaves for Naval basic training with Air Rescue on Tuesday, but all of you parents/guardians out there know how it can be foreboding when a adult child leaves for active service.
