Start of new exhibition series

quick 5 minute sketch on the start of my figure series. Focusing on dancers in motion and capturing the raw strength of their bodies that I truly admire.

The surprise painting I did of my niece for her graduation present. I posted a lot of pics because it’s hard to see in photos the metallic gold I used. Incredible dimension in person, catches the light beautifully

Going to add....something into the bottom. Flowers maybe, light contrasts. Not sure yet, but I’m liking the overall progression.  I started homeschooling one of my daughters due to some nasty kids, and lack of administrative intervention. So, I’m going to get her all caught up and ready for high school in a year. I’ve added into her history curriculum, the study of French Impressionism.  I’ve always adored Monet as well as Degas (check out my past Ballerinas). So my koi pond definitely has a Monet edge to it. I’m just blending it more than the Impressionist technique. This piece is all about portrayal of calmness and movement.  We’ve had a stressful year. My 14 yr old has been through many diagnostic procedures pinpointing either Chrohns Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, or IBS. Two colonoscopies in ten months and one endoscopy.  It’s enough to overwhelm anyone, let alone a 14 year old girl. But, she amazes me. She has watched both colonoscopies with great earnest. Wanting to learn. She wants to be a general surgeon some day. I’m in awe of her.  Per hr doctor’s prompting, and due to my horrible digestive issues my turn to for endoscopy and colonoscopy is next month. If my kid can do it I can too. Just at the same time kinda scares me.  I rarely post anything personal on here, but I’ve realized how painting has helped me get through an incredibly rough year. Oh and of course, my faith in God. Which has grown so much stronger. So, please, if anyone has any questions about how to start painting just comment. I would love to guide you.  First piece is never good. Just start.

Starting Geometrics on 3rd

Background is done, now starting geometrics on 3rd in my New series.  It takes a long time, there will be so much more detail and then at the end I'll implement in some physics. On a side note, my oldest daughter has been completing her college applications. She wants to major in research chemistry. Applying to UCI, UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, CSULB, Azusa Pacific.  The process is daunting. But I'm a pretty proud mom. She's worked so hard for so long. Good luck Tara.

Geometrics, Linear Art, physics

I have been consumed with my new idea for my geometric series. To add in hints of physics to tell a story. Math and science is everywhere. I'm not talking about tedious 7th grade math, my thoughts are focused on looking at space, time, nature, life and death. Seeing the connections. The Golden Ratio can be found all through nature. And time is ever present. We can all feel it. Sometimes it is almost tangible.  This series is going to take me a long time, but I am led to do it. I haven't added on any equations yet.

Geometrics add in

Since my obsession with geometric linear art is overtaking me, I pulled one of my Geishas down to add in linear accents. Just started, more definition to come #geometric #lineart #geisha #modernart #interiordesign #asianart #painting #art #gallery

Busy summer

I've severely neglected posts on my blog.  My girls we're home and we have a new Airdale Terrier puppy named Boe keeping us busy.  My nephew and his beautiful bride were married. We flew our daughters to Seattle for my birthday, then drove down to Eugene, Oregon for th wedding. The blue painting below is their wedding present from us.

Finished 48x24 commissioned whale painting

FullSizeRender.jpg

A client wanted a pair of humpback whales with a sense of urgency. Depicting the fight for survival against whale hunting.  I've never painted whales before, so I dove into studying them. Studying water and light rays.  I'm happy with it. The owner is extremely pleased.
